Manhattan Beer, one of the largest beer and alcohol distributors in the New York metro area, needed a reliable solution to capture and handle delivery tickets. The company processes roughly 4,000 delivery tickets per day.

Delivery tickets are printed on line printers and triplicate forms are given to drivers for delivery. Signed delivery tickets are then returned to one of the 6 warehouses and then scanned.

Kofax OCR’s the invoice number on the impact printer delivery ticket with greater than 95% accuracy. Once scanned, DataMerge jobs update the customer information based on invoice number within JD Edwards. A SQL job runs an exception report to flag any delivery tickets that went out with a driver but were never scanned into the system.

This automated capture process reduces the need for multi-part forms, manual data entry and provides audit tracking of deliveries that were never made. Now Manhattan Beer can hold drivers responsibile for lost deliveries.
